Diary [past events]

2023 December

This website goes live.
2023 Advent

Poetry+Faith: on the theme of cosmology.
2023 autumn

I started to consider establishing a website to make my poems more widely available.

Joined a 2-hour paid seminar on the subject of website building for writers. Limited value and some technical misinformation, but it did get me started.
2023 autumn

Draft chapbook Poems 3 circulated privately, inviting comment.

Mixed feedback, some very positive. Some specific criticisms, not all of which I have taken on board.

Some direct queries as to meaning, to which I have replied, and there has been no further comeback.
2023 Lent

Eliot's Ash Wednesday: I read it out loud to Annie, each day during Lent. A journey of understanding.
2023 Lent

Poetry+Faith: on the theme of leadership
2022 Advent

Repeat performance of Eliot's Four Quartets in Hexham Abbey. An audience of 50+. Sadly there were problems with the sound system which made things difficult for me and the audience.

2022 June

A conversation via Zoom with Rebecca Watts, arranged via the London Poetry School. An hour's review of three of my poems.

As a result I made substantial changes to Charisms III and came to consider the three Charisms poems as a unit.

I did not take on board Rebecca's concerns about Living With Uncertainties.
2018 Advent

Poetry+Faith: I was having cancer treatment, so had to step back from leading the group.
2018 July

I gave a recital of my poems in Hexham Abbey.
2018 Lent

Faith+Poetry: Mark Oakley's Splash of Words
2017 Advent

I gave a recital of Eliot's Four Quartets in Hexham Abbey. A small but very appreciative audience.

2017 Advent

Faith+Poetry: Malcolm Guite's Waiting on the Word
2017

I issued my second chapbook, Found Poems. Despite my rationalisation at the time, I find now that I rather regret the title.
2017 Lent

Faith+Poetry: Malcolm Guite's Word in the Wilderness
2016 Advent

Faith+Poetry: The Metaphysical Poets
2016 Lent

Faith+Poetry: T S Eliot's late poems - The Hollow Men, Ash Wednesday, Four Quartets
2015 Advent

Second Faith+Poetry series. This time following Janet Morley's further anthology Haphazard by Starlight. Brilliant title is a quotation from U A Fanthorpe's BC:AD.
2015

I issued my first chapbook, Lent Poems.
2015 Lent

Michelle Dalliston, temporary rector during the vacancy arising from Graham Usher's move to Dudley, instigated a Faith+Poetry series for Lent, using Janet Morley's anthology The Heart's Time.
