Stephen Halliday

Faith + Poetry

photo:Mike Rowarth
I'm Stephen Halliday: a newborn in Christ since 1975: reading and writing poetry as a way to explore and develop my faith since 2015.

I'm a member of the congregation at the Parish Church of St Andrew in Hexham, more generally known as Hexham Abbey.
This website aims to make my poetry available to a wider audience.
Whilst I reserve all copyrights in the content of this website, I have no desire to monetise my writing. Any reasonable requests for permission are likely to be granted without fuss. Just ask via the Contact page.
I have published three small chapbooks over the years. Most of the poems presented on this website have appeared in one of them. More information on the Publications page.
This is my first and only website and is a work-in-progress. If you find anything that doesn't work as expected, please use the Contact page to let me know.
Three people to whom I'd like to acknowledge my gratitude:
* the late Dominic Hibberd, most inspirational of all my teachers
* the Revd Michelle Dalliston who re-engaged me with poetry and encouraged me to follow the path
* my dear wife, Annie, my helpmeet and fellow pilgrim

Also my critics. I may not always heed your advice, but thank you for making me think again.
